Depending on yourself
The power of being able to be your own councillor and count on yourself to develop the skills to identify your needs (including talking about them) and meet them for yourself.
Mindfulness, breathing and meditation help give peace of mind, calmness and centring to help you see what you need more clearly.
Trusted outlets for emotional support
Whilst being able to depend on yourself is fundamental, we all need to lean on external support to a greater or lesser extent from time to time.
It’s essential to have people around you who can empathise with you.
To listen and get what you’re going through.
People who are prepared to sit in it with you.
This need can be amplified if you are depended upon by others, as many of my members are, to provide care in positions of responsibility, both professionally and personally.
I’m proud and delighted that my members have told me how the Academy Community offers the kind of safe, trusting and fun environment for them to open up to one another.
To rally round, share their experiences and help one another through.
And not forgetting – celebrate each other’s successes too.
