Dance with it
Changing our behaviour is hard.
Old habits die hard.
They’re safe and uncomfortable all at once.
Habits good and bad, conscious and unconscious, are deeply ingrained and will take time, patience and compassion to re-wire.
We have a million and one stories we can tell ourselves to AVOID taking new, different action.
Action that will lead us down a different path, to the different version of ourselves we envisage.
We avoid the discomfort of change and WRESTLE back and forth between the old and the new.
We go back and forth. Repeating old habits whilst practicing new ones too.
We find oursevles doing the same old things and asking ourselves, “why am I back here again?”
Progress is never linear.
But at some point, when we’re kind to ourselves, instead of feeling like we are wrestling with it, we can start to DANCE with it.
Embracing the temporary discomfort the challenge of transforming the old to the new brings, going from eyes closed to eyes open.
Gritting our teeth and smiling when we fall whilst learning the steps of the new tune.
Appreciating, slowly, the grace, poise and joy that starts to shine through when we move more in more in time with a positive new rhythm.
