Hi folks,
Today, I want to talk about one of the main reasons why your efforts to lose weight and get in the shape you want may be coming up short.
Leaving you wondering why everything you’ve tried, might seem to work for a little while
but ultimately you find yourself back at square one:
feeling frustrated, demoralised and not knowing where to turn to next.
Why does this keep happening?
Why do all of the things you’ve tried to help you lose weight and get in shape fail?
The answer might be, that up until now,
you’ve been following
protocols.
Protocols are a set of instructions to be followed without question
Without context or
specificity to you,
your life,
your body and your goals.
Protocols are a fixed, prescribed way of doing things that you must comply to –
You have to fit your body and behaviour to them –
there’s no room for interpretation,
making them very restrictive
And they MUST be done this way
To have a chance of seeing the perceived or promoted benefits and results.
Protocols can appear very attractive in the short run
because they claim that if you do X you’ll get Y.
In other words – you’ll get given the fish.
But the promise of being handed the fish, doesn’t teach you HOW to fish.
It’s a one size fits all approach.
And if you don’t fit the protocol, it won’t work for you.
And because they’re a very exact set of instructions.
What happens when your circumstances, body or goals change?
The protocol stop working.
This makes them unsustainable and your failure is built in to the approach
Leaving you searching for the next protocol to follow
Perpetuating that very negative cycle of you trying everything and getting nowhere.
So what’s the alternative?
Principles that work for you and your body –
Principles are fundamental truths that serve as the foundation for a belief system or a thought process.
A good set of Principles, based on how your body and mind works, and not anyone’s opinion,
Will help you navigate the same old scenarios you encounter over and over again
More positively,
leading you to where you want to be.
When you learn to match the appropriate principle to the appropriate scenario,
you’ll find success becomes much more simple to achieve.
meaning you can use them forever and they won’t let you down.
You can learn to shape and adapt them and even create new ones of your own
based on your life, your goals and needs.
Principles give you a consistent backbone to live on your terms
and help you shape your environments to suit you
rather than your environments shaping you.
They empower you to make your own decisions and find out what works best for you.
The downside,
which isn’t really a downside at all
is that you can’t just have someone tell you what to do,
You have to learn how to fish
– It’s your responsibility –
This takes time, effort and the willingness to learn
from sometimes painful or uncomfortable experiences,
But If you’re committed to this process of practicing these principles consistently in your every day life
They’ll give you the very best chance to regain control of your body once and for all.
