Today, we discussed:
Lockdown Loneliness
For all of the positive virtual connection and coming together of online communities, nothing compares to the real thing.
The importance of speaking up and not apologising for feeling low.
We are tactile, social animals who all need a hug.
Uncertainty
Mixed emotions of uncertainty – feelings of loss because some of our big plans, hopes and dreams have been temporarily put on hold or are up in the air.
But also a sense of opportunity and excitement of an unknown future we can shape for ourselves.
Acceptance of our emotions in that moment and allowing ourselves to grieve appropriately for these losses.
“Loss is nothing more than change. Universal nature delights in change, and all that flows from nature happens for the good.” MARCUS AURELIUS
As those feelings fade – thinking – what’s plan b?
Actively choosing a new route when it doesn’t go the way you thought it might.
And who knows, perhaps it may pan out better than you could have possibly imagined.
Boundaries
Dealing with difficult emotions and circumstances right now means its important to know where the line is and be able to detach from tough situations.
Not losing or give too much of ourselves when we’re trying to help.
Empathy can be draining – because it takes you putting yourself in other’s shoes and connecting with difficult emotions/memories of your own to relate.
“Slump” days
Observing the natural ups and downs, ebbs and flows of energy during lockdown.
So how can we deal with them?
Acceptance that they happen to us all and always will.
Aiming to ride that wave and go with the flow.
Knowing – good, bad and indifferent – this too shall pass.
Take easy wins to begin to coax your energy round again.
And get up and dance – it was international dance day today! 🕺🏻💃🏻
