In this short video, I explain the subtle but important difference between setting Deadlines vs Milestones during your weight loss journey
Hi folks,
Today I want to talk to you about a subtle, but important distinction you can make
in your attitude
when it comes to setting goals
and a timeline
for transforming your health and body.
The distinction I’m talking about
is the difference between deadlines and milestones.
Let me explain…
90 day plans, 6 week abs programmes, your upcoming holiday,
a wedding or a birthday celebration
Can all be considered Deadlines.
The word deadline means the latest time or date by which something should be completed.
That there’s a finish line.
This can be a very positive thing to motivate you
and focus your efforts for a concentrated period of change
and
Say To yourself,
right I’m here today….where can I get to by deadline day?
The downside to this though is that by thinking the job is complete or finished
on the day the deadline expires,
You may automatically think that the positive habits that led you to achieving the results you wanted in the first place
can be stopped
Now that you’ve reached your goals and the deadline expires.
But what happens the very next day?
Your body doesn’t know that you had set this magical date
to achieve the goals you wanted to achieve and set them.
All it knows is that it’s another day to get on with things.
So the way I advise you to think about it is that you’re on a journey –
and instead of setting deadlines, I advise you to set milestones at regular intervals –
A milestone is a significant stage or event in the development of something
and they’re vitally important because there does need to be timeliness
to create urgency for you to take big action
otherwise it will never happen.
By assessing like this regularly,
you can check the action you’re taking in between each milestone is working
and you’re heading in the right direction.
Milestones also help structure this lifelong process of developing your health and body
By reaching one milestone after another
and even when you’ve hit your initial goals –
you must keep doing the things that got you there
if you want to stay there and progress even further over time.
Hopefully you find this a reassuring and exciting prospect –
that you’ll always have the opportunity to refine your health, fitness and body shape
and use milestones to help you stop to reflect and celebrate your progress along the way.
