Up until my early twenties I was always very active participating in several dance classes, so I could get away with eating pretty much what I wanted.
I then moved cities to complete a Masters degree and stopped all the dance classes and the most exercise I did was walking to and from university. I made excuses to myself saying I was too busy with work and studying in order to avoid doing any exercise. During this time I continued eating what I wanted and the weight started to gradually pile on, clothes got tighter and I went up several dress sizes.
Every Monday I would start my ‘diet’ and try to eat healthily but by Wednesday night I was sitting with a take away and a glass of wine for dinner.
I started to become very lethargic, had low energy levels and just wanted to sit on the sofa and watch TV.
This was in complete contrast to how I was only a few years earlier. I then didn’t want to go to the gym or a dance class because I didn’t want to be the ‘fat one’ so it ended up going around in a vicious circle, but I knew I needed to make a change as it was only going to get worse.
I was slightly apprehensive about starting with Andy as I didn’t really know what to expect and I knew I was out of shape.
I didn’t need to worry at all; I can not speak highly enough of my personal trainer Andy, he is fantastic, so passionate about what he does and gave me the encouragement I needed to get myself back into shape.
He got the intensity of the sessions just right so I was pushing myself a bit more each session but not dying the next day, I even started to miss my sessions when I was away for a few days!

I went from a size 16 to a size 10, lost over 25kg and 24cm from my waist.*
I feel so much healthier, fitter and also have a bit more of my confidence back, I am going to sign up for a couple of dance classes again, which is something I wouldn’t have done before. The training has also helped my posture, before I was starting to suffer from back pain and slouched a lot but now I have no back pain from sitting at my desk for long periods of time.
I have really enjoyed my programme with Andy, so much so, I am going back to continue my training. Yes there have been a few times when it has been hard but the benefits far out weigh these and I know it is all maintainable.
